Why Apple is Paranoid About Intel Ultrabooks

It’s no secret that consumers love the sleek, streamlined design of the Apple Macbook Air. Now what if you could get a notebook similar to a Macbook air for a fraction of the cost?
Thanks to Intel’s new push towards thinner form factors – this is now possible.
Below is a comparison I pulled together which compares Toshiba’s new Ultrabook against Apple’s 13″ Macbook Air.
The key takeaway: this product line could be a huge slam dunk for Intel ($INTC) and a big loss for Apple ($AAPL).
Competition has finally arrived in the ultra-thin form factor notebook market… and the results are pretty surprising.
The Toshiba Ultrabook is very competitive with the 13″ Macbook Air in nearly every category. Surprisingly enough, the Toshiba notebook is actually thinner, weighs less, and costs $400 less than a Macbook Air.
Everyone loves getting more for less – it wouldn’t surprise me to see these Ultrabooks sell like hotcakes.
