Jeff Bezos: The Tech Visionary Delivers Once Again

Jeff Bezos has built Amazon.com from the ground up and took a wrecking ball to his competitors along the way.
What can’t this guy do?
Yesterday, the Amazon ($AMZN) chief announced their big splash into the tablet market with the introduction of the Amazon Fire tablet.
The device has already exceeded all of my expectations and then some… especially with the $199, bargain basement pricepoint. With such aggresive pricing, this product has mass-adoption written all over it.
Watch for the Amazon Fire to be one of the hottest gadgets this holiday season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this tablet garner 1,000,000 pre-orders.
Even though the device looks great from a hardware perspective, Amazon’s sprawling content network and tight-knit cloud integration makes this tablet even more compelling.
Amazon is clearly going back to their playbook and selling their tablet at a loss with the hopes of making up for it with content and Amazon prime subscriptions. Definitely a risky strategy, but this “razer thin” margin strategy is Bezos’ bread and butter.
Sell the hardware for a loss, but make up the margin through a superior user experience and content network. Bold and risky, but Bezos is a tech visionary and he is not afraid to make big bets.
Analysts said the Kindle was clunky and wouldn’t succeed, but now Borders is out of business.
The hype leading up to this announcement was palpable, but Bezos delivered the goods in a big way.
The tablet market is now a legitimate two horse race.
